This year's Mitcham Carnival took place on Saturday 12 June. As usual, the carnival will be on the Three Kings Piece, Commonside West, Mitcham, with the parade starting at Figges Marsh and an array of brightly coloured costumes and floats.
Themed 'Football Fever', the day will be packed with activities and fun for the entire family, including attractions such as a funfair, stalls, music, dance, a little league football tournament, arena events and more.
Mitcham Filipino-British Association has been involved in this event for almost two successive years since joining. MFBA participated in the parade with the support of our friends such as Doce Pares and other Filipino visitors.
MFBA run a stall and prepared a little bit of Filipino dishes such as pancit canton, barbecues and other delicacies to taste.
During the programme there were entertainments and performances of different acts. Doce Pares is the first to performed with their latest martial art techniques using "arnis" followed by the MFBA Dance Troupe who performed “Cariñosa” a Filipino folk dance choreographed by Roger and Liza Ferreol.
Visitors to the carnival will be able to marvel at the horse display team, dance groups and stilt-walkers as well as enjoy a fun fair, refreshments and a variety of stalls. The Mitcham mini games and a little league football final will ensure the festivities continue late into the afternoon.
